CDFAM was founded in 2022 by Duann Scott of Bits to Atoms as a platform to bring together leading academics and engineers to network and share information about the latest development in computational design across all scales.

The first event held in Brooklyn, NY in 2023 featured over 30 speakers from companies as diverse as New Balance to NASA, leading academics from MIT, NYU & Penn State, as well as software developers from emerging startups, and major CAD/CAE companies.

In 2024 the CDFAM symposium expands with dual events running in Europe and the US to provide an opportunity for more experts to gather and discuss the computational, generative and AI enabled design from the micro through meso to the macro.
