Program Themes and Technical Focus
The Barcelona program brings together two days of technical presentations and applied case studies spanning computational design, simulation driven engineering, advanced manufacturing, and architectural systems. Across these domains, a central theme is the growing role of AI and machine learning as practical engineering tools rather than experimental add ons.
Several sessions examine how AI is becoming part of the core engineering stack. Physics informed and physics native models are moving beyond narrow surrogates toward large scale models that generalize across geometries and operating conditions. These approaches are enabling real time aerodynamic insight, rapid thermo fluid optimization, and simulation driven exploration that connects design, analysis, and manufacturing in continuous workflows.
Another major thread is design automation at multiple scales. Presentations address functional AI for building systems, agent based path finding, automated geometry preparation for simulation, and GPU enabled topology optimization for large structural problems. The focus is not only on generating geometry, but on producing designs that are simulation ready, manufacturable, and grounded in real performance criteria.
Architectural and ecological systems form a parallel track that explores computation beyond conventional building performance. Talks cover ecological simulation inside design environments, climate responsive architectural systems, and porous structures informed by environmental and biological data. These sessions expand computational design into questions of habitat, resilience, and long term environmental interaction.
The program also includes work in biomedical and product scale applications, such as personalized medical devices, computationally designed wearables, and gradient material systems enabled by additive manufacturing. Here, computation links human data, material behavior, and digital fabrication into integrated design to production pipelines.
Across all sessions, the emphasis remains consistent. Speakers will share production workflows, underlying computational frameworks, and lessons from deployment in industry, research, and practice. The result is a program centered on how advanced computation is being used today, and where it is heading next.
Limited Attendance
Attendance is limited due to the capacity of the venue. CDFAM events typically reach full registration before the event date, and only a small number of places remain available.
Early registration is strongly recommended if you plan to attend.
Venue and Catering
The symposium will take place at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), a major international research center located on the Mediterranean waterfront. The venue provides a focused setting for technical exchange, with spaces designed for clear presentations and productive discussion between sessions.
Catering will feature Barcelona classics and regional delicacies served throughout the event, allowing attendees to remain on site and engaged across the full program while continuing conversations with speakers and peers.

Presentation Archive
An extensive archive of past CDFAM presentations is available online. These talks feature engineers, designers, researchers, and software developers sharing detailed workflows and real project outcomes. Reviewing the archive offers a clear understanding of the technical depth and applied focus that define the symposium.
